My Top 20 Video Game Tattoos (Part 1)
By Jayarr Steiner
As the resident Video game blogger for Subculture Magazine I have to dream up content for the site. Here’s my contribution for this week; something I hold near and dear to my heart: video game tattoos.
Before I criticize anyone elses game ink, I want to put mine out there first:

I got this one a while ago to really display my lack of trust for people, and also certain people’s lack of trust in me. One of my favorite all-time games, Fallout, has a character in it named Pip Boy. I found this artwork online and used it as the basis for this piece. So now you know, the gaming guy has a gaming related tattoo. (Ahem) Now that I’ve validated myself in everyone’s eyes, let’s get going with my list:
20. Soul Calibur – Soul Edge
Do you really want to have the bane of evil on your arm? Ah, either way, abeautiful tattoo.
19. Link – A link to the past
The SNES era had some of the best videogames ever. Here’s an adorable homage to link in “A Link to the Past.”
18. Mega Man – X Series
Yet another SNES piece done in a familiar pixel art style. If you look close you can even see the grid under the color.
17. Pac Man
This is a sick stamp, but why does it look like someone burned her left boob covering?
16. 4 Links – 4 Swords
Well, technically there are 6 links here, all from different points in the Zelda series. The one that really captures my attention is the depiction of the links in the recent free release of The Legend of Zelda: 4 Swords. OK, well technically what REALLY captured my attention is the fact that this gamer art is on the gamer thigh of what looks to me a potentially attractive gamer girl.
Im not sure what id do if a girl pulled down her pants and I saw these tattoos… No, wait. Yes I am. Moving on…
15. Tetriminoes – Tetris
I bet you didn’t know the little pieces were called Tetriminoes did you? Useless video game information 101 here. If you notice there is a piece missing from the middle. Nice.
14. Tanooki Suit Mario – Super Mario Brothers 3
This was definitely the strangest power-up in Mario 3. It combined the ability to fly like the Raccoon suit with the ability to turn into a statue. Yes, the enemies just walk by you. I honestly don’t EVER remember using that ability. And I lost 30 percent of my childhood to this game
13. John Marston – Red Dead Redemption
The closest thing to Grand Theft Auto, set in a western, that we’re going to get.
12. Bill and Lance – Contra
In this run and gun game you control Bill “Mad Dog” Rizer and Lance “Scorpion” Bean (the red guy and the blue guy). Honestly, this was one of the most difficult games of its time. BUT, if you enter the now famous Konami Code (in the tattoo photo) you would receive 30 lives.
11. Final Fantasy
Again, I’m not sure what id do if a girl pulled down her pants and I saw these tattoos…
